Diatreme: A breccia-filled volcanic pipe that was formed by a gaseous explosion (e.g. hydrovolcanic eruption); commonly, but not exclusively associated with exposed throat or neck of maar, as in the Hopi Buttes area of Arizona. Compare – neck [volcanic]. SW & GG
