Basal Till: (a) (not preferred; obsolete) refer to subglacial till. Unconsolidated material of mixed composition deposited at the base (bottom) of a glacier [ The term emphasizes only the relative position of deposition; e.g. subglacial till]. Types of basal till include lodgment, melt-out, and flow till. GG & SW (b) [obsolete- use lodgment till] - A firm, dense, clay-rich till containing many abraded stones (coarse fragments) dragged along beneath a moving glacier and deposited upon bedrock or other glacial deposits.
