Topple Technical Terms

Topple: A category of processes, associated sediments (topple deposit) or resultant landforms characterized by a localized, very rapid type of fall in which large blocks of soil or rock literally fall over, rotating outward over a low pivot point. Portions of the original material may remain intact, although reoriented, within the resulting debris pile. Types of topples can be specified based on the dominant particle size of sediments (i.e. debris topple, soil topple, rock topple. Compare – fall, flow, slide, spread, complex landslide, landslide.
